Toni Watts
Toni was born in Derby in 1960 and now lives in Lincolnshire with her husband and teenage daughters. She spent 21
years working as a doctor in the NHS before deciding on a change of career. Art was always her first love;
resignation from her hospital post gave her the perfect opportunity to spend her time painting.
She has no formal art training; however her work has won numerous awards, including the Christopher Parsons Award
for Artistic Excellence and a first prize in the Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. She was the overall winner
of the PAWS (Paint a Wildlife Subject) Championship, being considered the best wildlife artist in the thirteen years
of the competition. Demand for her work is increasing steadily, with pieces held in private collections throughout
the UK and Europe.
Toni produces both feather perfect portraits of birds and large atmospheric landscapes, often featuring the wide
open spaces and impressive skies of the Eastern Counties. She only paints birds she knows well; inspiration is most
likely to come from morning walks with her dog who waits more or less patiently as she sketches! Recent visits to
South Africa have added some more exotic species to her repertoire.
She exhibits regularly at the British Birdwatching Fair, the Mall Galleries, London, and with the Wildlife Art
Society. Toni is represented by Birdscapes Gallery in Norfolk and Wild at Heart Gallery in Lincolnshire.
