Carl Thompson
Carl Thompson is an award winning Shropshire artist, illustrator and demonstrator with a portfolio of work extending from still life to
portraiture to wildlife. Since turning professional Carl has a growing reputation for his versatility, artistic style and for the energy
emanating from his work. Following a series of successful exhibitions, Carl’s dedication and hard work was rewarded in winning the TWASI
David Shepherd Award alongside becoming a finalist in the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year. Carl has also had a practical’s article published
in the ‘Artist and Illustrators’ magazine where he demonstrated his ‘Painting with Air’ technique.
Carl will spend many hours researching his subject even before a single ‘brushstroke’ is made. ‘I strive to be faithful to my wildlife
subjects, showing their character and essence in a realistic manner.’
‘I’m also continually looking at new ways I can depict wildlife in all its glory which is just that little bit different.’
Carl’s work can be viewed extensively throughout the year at national wildlife art exhibitions including NEWA and Marwell International
Wildlife Art Society exhibitions. Carl is happy to accept both private and commercial commissions. He is also available for demonstrations
of his ‘Painting with Air’ technique.
