A passion for wildlife and nature's beauty combined with her love to draw and paint is Peta's inspiration for her art. For many
years she cared for injured and orphaned Australian native marsupials and birds, in particular some of the smaller species of
birds.and it was from these years of caring for birds that her interest in them as subjects to paint developed.
Peta is a self-taught artist working mainly in gouache. She has also co-authored and illustrated the book "Wild About You-Friends
With Feathers", a collection of short stories about some of the birds the artist had cared for during her years as a wildlife
foster carer. Although born in Australia, her childhood was spent in Papua New Guinea, moving to Queensland, Australia as a
young adult. She has travelled extensively in Australia researching her subjects (mainly birds) and more recently to Africa and
South East Asia.
