Takahe in the Chesterburn valley of Fiordland, New Zealand.
‘Takahe’ are one of the world’s rarest birds, indigenous to New Zealand. They were rediscovered in 1948 at over 1000 metres above sea level
in the Fiordland National Park. Today there are no more than 300 individuals remaining. They are a 3kg flightless gallinule. I had more
than 20 years experience with this truly wonderful species.
This painting is done in oil on stretched canvas and is 18”x24” (unframed).
There are 50 limited edition Giclee prints on canvas available in the original size.
