Ian
"Griff" Griffiths
Griff has been studying and watching Wildlife
ever since he can remember and when he was bought his first set of
Acrylic paints at the age of 14 years it was only natural to paint
his favourite subject.
Although exhibiting at the age of 15 years and
receiving praise and encouragement from Sir Peter Scott, he decided
on a career in the holiday trade which gave him the opportunity to
live in some wonderful locations around the UK’s coast. In the
winter he would travel throughout the world and sketch his journeys.
In recent years Griff has help Professor David Bellamy in promoting
wildlife and the environment on the Holiday Parks by illustrating
several projects for the prestigious and successful David Bellamy
conservation awards.
In 2006 Griff took the decision to become a full
time artist predominantly painting Wildlife in Acrylic and watercolour
but does use a variety of mediums depending on the subject matter.
Living on the Lizard peninsular this is an ideal environment with
its varied scenery and wildlife this, together with a lifetimes observation
and experience, goes into creating his work.
In his first year demand
for his work has been phenomenal with many of his pieces going overseas,
this coupled with the continuation of a week by week diary of the
natural history of the Lizard peninsula for a local award winning
estate, is set to continue in the future. Griff will also be featured
in Wildscape and Artist & illustrators magazines (June & July
respectively).
