Jonathan Latimer has been watching and drawing
wildlife for as long as he can remember. Having graduated from Blackpool
College in 1998 with a first class degree in Scientific Illustration,
he now works as a freelance artist and illustrator, specialising in
natural history subjects. He has worked for many organisations including
the RSPB, National Geographic, Harper Collins, the Royal Botanic Gardens
Edinburgh and the BBC. In 2003 Jonathan won the well-respected Birdwatch
Artist of the Year competition, and had his first solo book
- Orchards Through the Eyes of An Artist (Langford Press) - published
two years later.
When not working on commissions, Jonathan spends
as much time as possible in the field, sketching birds and gaining
inspiration for new paintings. Many ideas are generated close to his
Lancashire home, although recent trips have taken him to Romania's
Danube Delta, and Spitsbergen in Norway's high Arctic.
